"that was life"

Intro: Of course the new Rapture album is mighty fine. people have been constantly reproaching me the fact that we have not blogged about it and what the fuck is with fluokids? get on to the hype machine and/or elbows and you’ll find tremendous amounts of blogs willing to talk you through it k.

The Rapture – Get Myself Into It (Serge Santiago Edit)
Brighton darling Serge Santiago edits this track with such funkiness, I feel myself instantly transported at The Honey Club, how lovely…

1) Last weekend I was in London shopping and partying, mostly, it was nic-e. Fabric on Friday was the place to be with a crazy lineup one could only dream of. The king of the night was with no doubt Para One (yeah Institubes sucker who cares fear not i'll be talking about them again soon). He made hot-as-fuck lesbian-ravers dance crazy while kissing French style, and me, too. The most maddening times were the Elle Blesse remix and Musclor, both “French” tunes, I was truly impressed by the British reaction. Duke Dumont, the well named, was the other star of the evening, playing a crazy ass set at 10PM making the b boys and the German body builders dance with the skinny indie kiddos on Robbie Williams (tortured by Soulwax OKAY), a true tour de force.

2) It Came From The Sea, after a hard day of mighty lèche-vitrine (God bless TopShop), was really endearing, especially barefeet, especially with my darling friends being there, especially when we all sang The Knife's Heartbeats with the choir ; Milo Merok's dog was quite endearing as well, alright now.

Scala & Kolacny Brothers – Heartbeats
Best song ever, best song to sing to, best song to make a cover of, I guess.

3) Speaking of which, check Space Cowboy's myspace profile, who do you see in his top8? The Klaxons and Crystal Castles, let's all hope this is some sign of future jaw dropping awesomeness. Also, remember that the Klaxons will be playing the Inrocks festival in Paris in November with, among many others, Bat For Lashes, Spankrock, Gang Of Four, Jarvis Cocker, TV On The Radio, and Etienne Daho…

Klaxons - Golden Skans
let's bet these won't disappear next year, i trust.

4) That new crazy raving yet dreamy scene in England, it's not being lonely you know. When I went to Australia some years ago, I instantly fell in love with the country and only one thing could prevent me from moving there : the seeming lack of a great music scene which I could obsess over. That time is long gone, or so it seems, and dreams of moving there are back making my nights interesting to the least.

Professor Groove & the Booty Affair – Decks To The Left
“Groovy” is the exact term to qualify this strange little man’s music, go check his myspace for more free groovy tunes.

5) It’s been since 2004 that you learned with Cut Copy and Wolfmother that Australia was in the wake of something new, something that might be exciting. The Presets, touring with, and often overpowering, Test Icicles (RIP) at the beginning of the year, have confirmed, and now the Bang Gang team & their friends seem to be ready to take over the world.

The Valentinos - CCTV (BangGang vs. VanShe Tech Rmx)
This trend of cutting voices, à la SebastiAn, will i ever get tired of it ? i think not.

6) Van She is probably my favourite band right now (until I discover a new one, fear not, for that I change every week). The most interesting thing about them is that they’re literally multitasks. You want dreamy aerial synth pop? OK Kelly. You need crazy tunes to make people go mad in a club? Ask the Tech team. Van She will cater for all your needs, au naturel, reworked sweetly by fancy French house masters, remixing themselves hot trendy new bands, or just being eye candy.

Aretha Van She Tech EBS Mix
Ça commence calmement mais nerveusement, puis ça monte, ça monte en puissance, et BANG, tout explose, on recommence. La pression.

7) Van She, alongside the most exciting bands on the planet today like Riot In Belgium (hi(n)ts = The Acid Never Lies + a dope remix of Surkin’s Radio fireworks soon to come), are signed to sexy label Modular People to which I now declare my undying love and my wish to intern for, soon enough, pretty please. Now onto a very very exciting news: Riot In Belgium will be here, touring in Europe as soon as next month, how awesome heh? Better yet, they’ll be playing with friends and music geniuses (I’m weighing my words here) Midnight Juggernauts.

Midnight Juggernauts – Shadows
You’re an eagle in the bush. You fly over Ayer’s Rock, eyes wide shut. That IS life.

8) Back, as I promised, to the Ins sucker mode: get this, Midnight Juggernauts, not happy enough to make my life prettier every day, are glad to announce their signature for a maxi with the French label, for the end of 2006, tout le monde vient habillé mais tout le monde part à poil. “Oh god”, yeah I know. To celebrate, and as a pretty neat release party for Das Glow’s lovely first EP Weiss Gaz, here’s what’s happening on the 26th of October, buy your train ticket already:

INSTITUBES & ON AIR PRODS PRESENT :
LE BAL DES BLOUSONS NOIRS
JEUDI 26 OCTOBRE 2006 1130PM-5AM / TRIPTYQUE / 5E
MIDNIGHT JUGGERNAUTS (live) / RIOT IN BELGIUM (DJ set)
JEAN « AÏ » NIPON & ORGASMIC (DJ set) / DAS GLOW (DJ set) / TACTEEL (live !)

Outro : Digest well, petits choux, all the magnificence. To help you out, a final track by a band i hold dear in my heart (if you were an ass you would ask who do i not heart, and it’s true that i’m more of a loving lady than not). They’re Aussie of course, they sometimes make unbereably violent music, sometimes not. Guess in what category this falls.

Machine Gun Fellatio - Unsent Letter
Just like the Rilo Kiley track on my September mixtape, a perfect song to sing along while enjoying the last sunny days of the year…
