Dirty Dirty DancingI’d love to give the Klaxons a break, but as long as good remixers refuse to do so, I’ll be writing about them on here for a long time to come. The remixer in question for my first post are the consistently amazing Simian Mobile Disco, who I find myself mentioning on Fluokids almost as often as I mention the Klaxons! I haven’t actually heard the original version of ‘Magick’ yet (If you’re reading Milo… ;) ), but I have fallen for James and Jas’ epic rework which plods through a dusky and mysterious electronic forest at 120BPM, with sparse use of the original vocals. I first heard this on the Fabric soundsystem, last month when Simian totally stole the show from the bleeding ear techno of Erol and Justice, and firmly staked their claim as the latest heavyweights on the circuit. If I have said it once, I have said it a million times, but if they can continue creating and remixing such a varied and unfailingly brilliant output, while still finding the time to reinvent indie at the same time (one half of SMD, James Ford, is currently working his magick in the studio for the Arctic Monkeys and The Klaxons, amongst others), these guys might find themselves becoming megastars, whether they like it or not.

Klaxons- Magick (Simian Mobile Disco remix)For those of you who fancy witnessing the skills of Simian Mobile Disco in a more intimate and relaxed situation than most, they’ll be headlining the November edition of my Blogger’s Delight at The Lock Tavern in Camden, alongside some other brilliant guests, as well as Skull Juice and I on resident duties.
Here’s another Klaxons related oddity from a real Fluofriend, and the first ever Blogger’s Delight resident, DJ Gorky whom, as I’m sure you all know by now, is the man behind the fantastic Brazilian (nu-?) funk carioca trio, Bonde Do Role. He decided to play around with the original ‘Bouncer’ sample, and turn it into a rather charming, bleepy ditty for the bailes and beyond. As ever with Gorky, this is unpretentious, let your hair down fun, and that is why we love him.

The Bouncer (DJ Gorky Remix)Don’t miss BDR back in Britain from October 10th onwards- Keep your eyes and ears peeled for some possible hush-hush happenings in London, as well as their debut at Fabric on the 20th.
More madness of the fluorescent variety now in the form of London’s latest Fluokids, Hadouken. Named after everybody’s favourite fireball, they’ve been causing a stir in a few square metres of London with their Fruity Loop indie-grime, and like sprinters waiting for a gun in a 100 metre dash, every record company in London was waiting for their first ever live gig, which took place just a couple of weeks ago, so they could justifiably get their chequebooks out. Allow me to introduce them to you, loyal readers, with this remix for thinking man’s rap crumpet, Plan B.
679 Recordings have been putting up remixes such as this brand new one, and Switch’s Futureheads remix for some time now, and it’s well worth checking in every week or two for their latest freebies. And yes, they did pay me to say that.
