Fanfare: Duke Dumont World Exclusive

It has been a long road for Duke Dumont. Since winning the Diesel U-Music World Championship last year, there has been uncertainty about who would be releasing his first record, and as a result, the world has still been waiting to hear exactly what this kid has in store. There have been glimmers of his talent on the web- the MySpace trailers, the Tiga, Kitsune and Pedro Winter championed Mekon remix and that brilliant Missy remix, commissioned by Atlantic Records, which used the well-worn 'Apache' sample as its basis, but somehow managed to sound fresh and exciting nonetheless. It wasn't the compressed sound one would associate with Ed Banger and Institubes. It wasn't the fidget house of Dubsided and the other British boys. It was just Duke Dumont.

It has been a frustrating few months for Duke Dumont, tying up all of the bureaucratic loose ends that go on behind the scenes in the music industry, but I can now tell you that his debut EP, as yet untitled, will be released through Turbo Recordings in the coming months. It will include three tracks, the Debbie Deb sampling "When I Hear Mu'Sic, 'Lean n Bounce' (The track that Erol Alkan has been playing for the last few months at Bugged Out, Fabric and around the world, and the forum kids can't wait to get their hands on) and the quite different, arpeggiated sound of 'Final Level'. Thus far, these have only been heard in the DJ sets of the Blogger's Delight residents and Erol Alkan, but it will soon be available for everyone to get their hands on.

Duke has also been working on a series of 'Fanfares' which can be used as battle weapons for his blistering DJ sets, the first of which he has given to us as an internet-only exclusive in order to set the ball rolling, and whet the appetite for the rest of the 'Fanfare' series. He has given me the nod to unveil the track today, in raw unmastered form, for your enjoyment. Annie Mac has also picked up on this track, and it will be included in her forthcoming Mixmag CD alongside the likes of 'Beeper' by Count Of Monte Cristal and Sinden, and the Switch remix of 'I Am Somebody' by DJ Mehdi.

Duke Dumont - Duke's Fanfare I

Enjoy the track and, in the words of the Duke, remember to 'keep it regal'.
